On our 17-day trip (including flight) we booked 8 different accommodations. We booked the first two accommodations from home a few weeks before the trip. The remaining accommodation we then on the way always at short notice with the smartphone booked. It worked very well. The net cover is so good in Sri Lanka, that you can book in the middle of the jungle via smartphone the next hotel.

We booked our apartments through Booking.com and Agoda.com. We have had good experiences with both suppliers. The two online hotel booking platforms have thousands of accommodation and millions of reviews and customer service around the clock. There are no reservation fees and there is a best price guarantee. To book the accommodation you need a credit card with both providers. The prices were with the provider Agoda.com somewhat cheaper than with Booking.com.
